Free virtual session explains all about the new social care cap

A care home in Kidderminster is inviting the community to learn more about the new social care reform through an information session.

On Friday 22nd September, from 3pm-4pm, Care UK’s Brook Court on Oldnall Road, will be hosting the virtual session for people within the community. Attendees will learn more about the social care cap and what it could mean for them and their loved ones.

The social care cap is a government initiative which places an upper limit on the amount of money an individual will be asked to pay towards their care and support needs.

The session will cover a host of important topics, including how the care funding system currently works, whether property must be sold to pay for care, how the care cap is likely to work in practice and how you might be able to place your own cap on care costs. The Brook Court team will be welcoming Nicky Cave, a Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA) Accredited Care Funding Specialist from Eldercare Group, to offer advice.

Paul Chambers, Customer Relations Manager at Brook Court, said: “Here at Brook Court, we appreciate that funding care isn’t always easy to understand, and that people are often left feeling confused when seeking guidance.

“Our aim is to help everyone feel more confident recognising how the new funding works, and to ensure that they are accessing the correct financial support available to them and their loved ones. The session will provide an informative overview and answer any concerns, as well as being a great opportunity to have any further questions answered.

“We’re looking forward to working with Nicky and welcoming all attendees – I’m sure this session will be incredibly helpful to many, and we’d encourage those interested to book their place and avoid missing out.”

Brook Court is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. The care home, which features 67 en-suite bedrooms, has been designed to enable its residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence.
