A care home in Sutton Coldfield hit the right note when they welcomed friends, neighbours and a very special guest for their summer festival.
The team at Care UK’s Mercia Grange, on Lichfield Road, were joined by local MP, Andrew Mitchell, and the people of Sutton Coldfield for an afternoon of entertainment.
Residents and guests’ competitive spirit was at an all-time high as they competed in a variety of traditional garden games, including ten pin bowling and hook ring toss.
There was a special performance from Novelli Stage School, and the dancers wowed everyone with their solo and group performances.
Visitors had the opportunity to browse a range of stalls from local businesses, which included homemade cakes, books and locally made crafts. With a tombola and raffle on hand, guests were also able to try their luck to win a host of prizes.
The fun-filled festival formed part of Mercia Grange’s Care Home Open Week celebrations, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Muriel, a resident at Mercia Grange, said: “The dancers were incredible and had so much energy. There was so much talent in the room, and we thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.”
Lynn Bennett, Home Manager at Mercia Grange, added: “We were delighted to welcome the community to our summer festival and particularly thrilled to be joined by MP Andrew Mitchell.
“Our special event offered a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with the community and show them what life at Mercia Grange is all about. We loved getting our dancing shoes on and giving everyone a chance to showcase their best moves at our summer festival.
“We’re already planning our next summer event so keep your eyes peeled – it’s set to be a summer to remember!”
