A care home in Edinburgh is opening its doors to the community for a barking mad competition.
On Saturday 26th August, from 2pm-4pm, the team at Care UK’s Lauder Lodge, on Wakefield Avenue, is welcoming local neighbours and their pooches to ‘raise the woof’ with the home’s very own edition of ‘Scruffs and Crufts’.
As part of the contest, the local community are invited to showcase their dogs’ skills and good looks as they take on a host of exciting challenges and compete to be named one of this year’s ‘Scruffs and Crufts’ winners.
The special event will see the im-paw-sibly adorable dogs undergo an agility course, a dog parade around the home’s garden, show off their heel work and demonstrate their obedience as they compete for title of ‘Best Dog in Show’.
Afterwards, everyone will be invited to meet with the paw-sitively fluffy contestants and fuss over them while enjoying a slice of cake with tea and coffee.
Anees Riaz, Home Manager at Lauder Lodge, said: “We have our doggy treats at the ready as we gear up for a paw-some afternoon of fun.
“Here at Lauder Lodge, we’re always seeking new and exciting activities to encourage residents to lead independent and fulfilling lives – and with many dog lovers at the home, what better way to do that than host our very own ‘Scruffs and Crufts’ event, as we pull out all the stops.
“We’re excited to welcome our neighbours and their pooches for what promises to be a truly memorable event – you’d have to be barking mad to miss this!”
Lauder Lodge is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care. Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its own café and hair salon, and there is plenty of space, both indoors and out, for relaxation and recreation.
