Peace out! Community joins Stansted care home for ultimate summer festival

A care home in Stansted transported the community to the 1970s with a very special event. 

The team at Care UK’s Mountfitchet House, on Coltsfield, were joined by the people of Stansted for their very own hippie-themed festival.

With live entertainment from talented team member, Jess, who sang a range of 60s and 70s favourites, guests put on their dancing shoes and showed off their best moves.

In true party spirit, the team decorated the home with banners, balloons and inflatable instruments, while a face painter was on hand to make visitors festival-ready and everyone enjoyed a tasty treat from an ice cream van. 

98-year-old Patricia, a resident at Mountfitchet House, said: “I had the best day – it was lovely to celebrate with everyone’s families. I really enjoyed the ice creams and especially loved hearing our very own superstar, Jess, singing!”

Joanna Duke, Home Manager at Mountfitchet House, added: “We were delighted to welcome the local community to our very own hippie-themed festival where we enjoyed plenty of dancing, good food and sunshine.

“Our festival offered a wonderful opportunity for intergenerational interaction, as families, friends, and neighbours came together to enjoy the festivities. Children showcased their dance moves alongside residents, fostering a sense of camaraderie and unity across all age groups. The event was a wonderful opportunity for the community to witness the vibrant and active lifestyle enjoyed by residents at Mountfitchet House.

“I’d like to extend a huge thank you to the team here at Mountfitchet House for organising such a wonderful event, and to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a success – we’re already looking forward to our next party!”
