Party time! Community joins local care homes for ultimate summer festivals

Two care homes in Hampshire hit the right note as they opened their doors to local people for an unforgettable day of music and entertainment.

Care UK’s Carpathia Grange, in Southampton, and Sway Place, in Sway, were joined by the people of Hampshire for their very own festivals.

The fun-filled events came as the homes celebrated Care Home Open Week, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

At Carpathia Grange everyone enjoyed live entertainment from local singer Summer Worsley. Guests also enjoyed street food, including sweet potatoes fries, Texan style burgers and hot dogs.

Over in Sway, Sway Place hosted a flower power 1970s themed festival. The team played music from the 70s all afternoon and served homemade cocktails and mocktails with a 70s twist! Guests also enjoyed a 1970s inspired buffet, complete with tequila sunrise cocktails, cheese and pineapple hedgehogs and a prawn cocktail vol au vents all prepared by the home’s Head Chef.

Pooja Dhoot, Home Manager at Carpathia Grange, said: “We certainly welcomed the summer in style at Carpathia Grange with our very own festival.

“We are always looking for new and exciting ways to support residents to lead fulfilling lives – and what better way to do that than to host our very own festivals, we certainly pulled out all the stops and created a day to remember.”

Jane Baxter, General Manager at Sway Place, added: “I’d like to thank the local community and the people of Hampshire for attending our truly memorable events – and a huge well done to all the team for organising such a musically good festival!”
