Nama-stay! Community joins Cringleford care home for ultimate summer festival

A care home in Cringleford had everyone tapping into their inner zen for a very special event.

The team at Care UK’s Cavell Court, on Dragonfly Lane, were joined by the people of Cringleford for their Summer Wellbeing Festival.

Guests put their yoga mats down and cleared their minds as they swayed along to calming piped music.

Visitors were able to experience seated yoga, carefully navigating their breathing exercises throughout, as well as taking away any stress with an Indian head massage and reflexology taster session.

Everyone also had the opportunity to tap into the ultimate calming and relaxing headspace as they embraced a Namaste and aromatherapy session to unwind.

Namaste care is designed specially to support people living with advanced dementia and seeks to engage people via their senses and emotions, and especially through the power of touch.

To top off the day, everyone enjoyed a host of nutritious smoothies and herbal teas, along with vegetable-based cakes and sweet treats, specially prepared by the home’s talented Head Chef.

The fun-filled, wellbeing-themed festival formed part of Cavell Court’s Care Home Open Week celebrations, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

Linda Cox, a resident at Cavell Court, said: “I absolutely loved the wellbeing festival, it was good to try out lots of activities, meet the animals, and it helped me feel more determined to set personal goals to get better.”

Karen Curle, Home Manager at Cavell Court, commented: “We were delighted to welcome the community to our summer festival to channel their inner calm and zen the afternoon away.

“Our special event offered a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with the community and show them what life at Cavell Court is all about. We loved giving everyone a chance to showcase their best yoga poses at our Summer Wellbeing Festival.

“We’re already planning our next summer event so keep your eyes peeled – it’s set to be a summer to remember!”
