Mic drop! Community joins Bromsgrove care home for ultimate summer festival

A care home in Bromsgrove transported the local community back to the swinging sixties at a very special event.

The team at Care UK’s Chandler Court, on Recreation Road, were joined by the people of Bromsgrove for their swinging Summertime Festival.

Guests put on their dancing shoes and let loose to the timeless rhythms of the era thanks to a special DJ set from the home’s very own DJ Ian.

Everyone’s competitive spirit was at an all-time high as they battled to see who would be named the winners of the croquet and volleyball tournaments. 

The fun-filled festival formed part of Chandler Court’s Care Home Open Week celebrations, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like. 

Betty Daplyn, a resident at Chandler Court, said: “I really enjoyed the festival and seeing all the people and happy faces!” 

Tina Lilly, Home Manager at Chandler Court, said: “We were delighted to welcome the local community to our summer festival to party the afternoon away. 

“Our Summertime Festival offered a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with the community and show them what life at Chandler Court is all about. We loved getting our dancing shoes on and giving everyone a chance to showcase their best dance moves in true 1960s fashion.

“We’re already planning our next summer event so keep your eyes peeled – it’s set to be a summer to remember!”
