It’s a hit! Community joins St Ives care home for ultimate summer festival

A care home in St Ives transported the local community all the way to the streets of London with a very special event.

The team at Care UK’s Field Lodge, on London Road, were joined by the people of St Ives for their Notting Hill inspired festival.

With live entertainment from local singer, Cory Lewis, as well as a steel drum band, guests put on their dancing shoes and showed off their best moves.

In true festival fashion, the home was decorated with bunting and flower garlands, and partygoers were given their own special VIP passes to the event. Visitors were also treated to traditional Caribbean dishes and vibrant cocktails specially prepared by the home’s talented Head Chef.

80-year-old Peter Liddiard, a resident at Field Lodge, said: “This was the first festival I’d ever been to and it was fantastic – the garden was so colourful and everyone was smiling. I love music and really enjoyed all the dancing!”

Linda Martinez, Home Manager at Field Lodge, added: “We were delighted to welcome the local community to our Notting Hill inspired festival where we enjoyed plenty of dancing, cocktails and sunshine.

“Our festival offered a wonderful opportunity for intergenerational interaction, as families, friends, and neighbours came together to enjoy the festivities. Children showcased their dance moves alongside residents, fostering a sense of camaraderie and unity across all age groups. The event was a wonderful opportunity for the community to witness the vibrant and active lifestyle enjoyed by residents at Field Lodge.
