A care home in Epsom was joined by the local community for live entertainment at a brand-new music festival.
Residents and team members at Care UK’s Appleby House, on Longmead Road, hit the right note as it opened its doors to local people for a brand-new musical festival.
The fun-filled event came as Appleby House celebrates Care Home Open Week, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
The festival saw guests dance along to live entertainment from Spitz, a local charity group, who performed famous pop songs from throughout the decades.
Guests also enjoyed a traditional summer barbecue prepared by the home’s Head Chef.
Shona Bradbury, Home Manager at Appleby House, said: “We loved welcoming the local community to join in the festival celebrations here at Appleby House to celebrate Care Home Open Week.
“For older people, reminiscing about nostalgic events, including festivals and watching live music, can help bring back happy memories, as well as prompting conversation and connection with those around them. For those living with dementia, these positive feelings gained from revisiting fond memories can help decrease stress, reduce agitation, and improve mood too.
“We hope everyone who attended had a great time and we can’t wait to strike a chord with residents and the wider community as we plan our next event.”
