A baa-rilliant day! Community joins Cheadle care home for ultimate summer festival

A care home in Cheadle hit the right note at a very special event and were joined by some baa-rilliant friends.

The team at Care UK’s Abney Court, in Abney Hall Park, were joined by the people of Cheadle for their Abney Family Festival.

Guests put on their dancing shoes and let loose to the classic hits from musicals from across the decades thanks to a special live performance from local singer, Gabrielle.

Visitors also had the opportunity to meet some fluffy sheep, brought in by Inspiring Animals, and spent time getting to know more about the friendly creatures.

Residents and guests also tried their luck at the tombola, with younger visitors enjoying the bouncy castle and faces paint designs to create the ultimate festival look.

The fun-filled festival formed part of Abney Court’s Care Home Open Week celebrations, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

Barbara Lennard, a resident at Abney Court, said: “I loved every minute of the festival, especially getting to see the happy faces of the families with all the children, and the team enjoying themselves after all their hard work. I really loved the singing and dancers it was just a wonderful day and to top it off, the sun was shining!”

Amcia Hara, Home Manager at Abney Court, commented: “We were delighted to welcome the community to our summer festival to party the afternoon away.

“Our special event offered a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with the community and show them what life at Abney Court is all about. We loved getting our dancing shoes on and giving everyone a chance to showcase their best moves and meet some fluffy friends at our Abney Family Festival.

“We’re already planning our next summer event so keep your eyes peeled – it’s set to be a summer to remember!”
