A new festival is coming to Quorn – and you won’t believe where it’s taking place.
On Friday 30th June, from 2.30pm-4.30pm, Care UK’s Lonsdale Mews, on Farley Way, is set to hit the right note as it opens its gardens to local people to experience the ‘Summer at the Mews’ Festival.
The fun-filled festival comes as Lonsdale Mews celebrates Care Home Open Week, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Summer at the Mews will see guests invited to dance along to live entertainment from Johnny Victory who will be performing classic hits from across the decades – sure to get the party started.
Guests will have the chance to take part in traditional garden games, including Hook-a-Duck and Tin Can Alley. There will also be a variety of stalls, including a pop-up tiki bar and sweet cart where guests can get their sweet fix and treat themselves to a mocktail or two.
Visitors will also be treated to a selection of homemade cakes, specially prepared by the home’s talented head chef.
Toby Sturgess, Home Manager at Lonsdale Mews, commented: “We’re excited to be opening our gardens to the local community to celebrate Care Home Open Week with our Summer at the Mews Festival.
“For older people, reminiscing about nostalgic events, including festivals and watching live music, can help bring back happy memories, as well as prompting conversation and connection with those around them. For those living with dementia, these positive feelings gained from revisiting fond memories can help decrease stress, reduce agitation, and improve mood too.
“We’re excited to be welcoming the Quorn community as we open our doors and ask everyone to join us in putting their dancing shoes on as we get the opportunity to be young, wild and free once more!”
