It’s party time! Sutton Coldfield care home celebrates fifth birthday in style

A care home in Sutton Coldfield threw a birthday bonanza to celebrate reaching a special milestone.

The Care UK team at Mercia Grange, on Lichfield Road, pulled out all the stops for a special birthday bash, with a live singer joining the fun and marking five years since the home welcomed the first residents.

Residents had the opportunity to dance and sing-along to live music from Paul Lumsden, a local singer who performed songs from across the decades. The team also decorated the home and everyone was able to enjoy the festivities in the sunshine with a slice of birthday cake.

On the day, residents were also treated to a gourmet buffet specially prepared by the home’s talented Head Chef and his team.

Joy, a resident at Mercia Grange, said: “What a perfect day for a birthday barbecue in our garden – I had a wonderful time”.

“The whole team worked hard to organise the special event, and I am delighted to say their efforts were a huge success – our birthday party will definitely be one to remember for years to come. “The last five years have absolutely flown by. We’ve welcomed some real characters to the home, built long-lasting relationships with our neighbours and hosted countless themed days – from marking special milestones and birthdays to welcoming alpacas into the home, we’ve done it all. Our lifestyle team is passionate about supporting everyone to live active and fulfilling lives, and it’s been a pleasure to take part in nationwide initiatives such as Bedtime Stories and launching our latest Dementia Guide over the last few months, among many more.

Mercia Grange is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing, dementia, and short-term respite care. The three-storey care home, which features 67 ensuite bedrooms, has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own cinema, hair salon and café.
