Team members at Care UK’s Rush Hill Mews, on Clarks Way, enjoyed an afternoon tea party with the Mayor of Bath, Councillor Rob Appleyard, where they shared their favourite memories from Bath and what makes the city a great place to call home.
Residents sat down with the Mayor to enjoy a quintessentially British afternoon tea, including sandwiches, scones, and cakes. Everyone enjoyed sharing their knowledge of the city, with residents talking about their favourite places and how things have changed throughout the decades, and the Mayor talked about the history of Bath and its Roman origins.
Commenting on the afternoon, resident Peggy Newport, said: “I loved spending the afternoon with the Mayor and would love to return for another cup of tea in the future. I’m from Chippenham so found it very interesting learning about the history of Bath.”
Caroline Carter, General Manager at Rush Hill Mews, said: “Residents had a fantastic time visiting the new Mayor of Bath, Councillor Rob Appleyard, at his office for an afternoon tea party.
“It was wonderful to hear the residents share their stories of growing up in the local area and their favourite local beauty spots. Afternoons like these are a great way to encourage reminiscence, which can be beneficial for older people, especially those living with dementia.
“We’d like to say a big thank you to the mayor for inviting us along and enjoying an afternoon with the residents.”
Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, Rush Hill Mews incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities. The home has been configured to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities and encourage social interaction among the residents.
