Improving lives – new Market Harborough care home supports local charity

Market Harborough’s newest care home has made a generous donation to a local cancer research charity.

Care UK’s Oat Hill Mews, on Leicester Road, which will open its doors in October, presented Hope Against Cancer with a £300 contribution.

Hope Against Cancer is dedicated to developing and delivering the most advanced cancer therapies and techniques to the people of Leicestershire and Rutland. They also provide seed funding for cancer research projects that grow from local projects into life-saving, breakthrough initiatives.

The funds will go towards Hope Against Cancer’s existing projects and services, enabling them to continue to support those diagnosed with cancer in the community.

Nigel Rose, CEO for Hope Against Cancer, said: “We’re really grateful to receive funds from the Care UK team at Oat Hill Mews.

“5,000 people in Leicestershire and Rutland are diagnosed with cancer each year*, so donations such as this one are vital and will go a long way in ensuring the community of Leicestershire and further afield can benefit from ongoing cancer research projects.

“On behalf of everyone, I’d like to say a big thank you to the Oat Hill Mews team for their donation – we’re looking forward to building upon this relationship as the home begins to welcome the first residents later this year.”

Mark Evans, Customer Relations Manager at Oat Hills Mews, said: “We’re pleased to be able to donate funds to Hope Against Cancer.

“We know just how important local charities are to providing support for people in the community. I’m excited to explore further opportunities to work together to create a strong community-wide support network right here in Market Harborough.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming Nigel and other members of Hope Against Cancer to Oat Hill Mews when we offically open our doors later this year.”

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new care home, which is set to open in October later this year, will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities.
