A care home in Crowborough has created their very own song that’s set to strike a chord with The King himself.
Residents at Care UK’s Heather View, on Beacon Road, have composed a unique tribute to the King ahead of the upcoming coronation.
The idea came after team members asked residents what they would like to do to celebrate this important milestone in British history and residents wished to write a song to help the King celebrate the special occasion.
The team set to work, and all the residents had their say in what they wanted included in the song and how the tune should go. Residents, Monica, Jill, Jean and Ethel assisted in writing and creating the song.
Residents at Heather View were able to record the song using professional equipment which was set up in the cinema of the home and a CD was made and sent to King Charles for an exclusive first listen.
Monica Langfear resident at Heather View said: “I really enjoyed writing and recording the coronation song, it was such fun in the studio. There was a lot of laughter involved as well as singing. We loved making it and having our photos taken.
The King will love it, I’m sure!
The lyrics include: “A new King is being crowned today, the crowds outside are shouting.... "Hooray", His wife Camilla will be by his side, in his new Queen, he will confide”
Natasha King, Home Manager at Heather View, said: “The coronation is a momentous occasion for the whole of the UK. Here at Heather View, we wanted to do something extra special for King Charles and for residents to help celebrate the day which is why we thought of writing our own song.
“Writing the song gave us a wonderful opportunity to chat about royal celebrations gone by and why these milestones are so important to many of the residents. For older people, including those living with dementia, reminiscing about historic celebrations can help bring back happy memories, as well as prompting conversation and connection with those around them. These positive feelings gained from revisiting happy memories can help decrease stress, reduce agitation, and even improve mood.
“We loved writing and recording our song for the King’s Coronation – we hope the song will be crown jewel in his coronation celebrations. Long live the King!”
