Cooking up a storm! Shrewsbury care home invites community to culinary showcase

A care home in Shrewsbury is inviting foodies in the local community to put their tasting skills to the test at a special culinary event.

On Wednesday 10^th May, from 2pm-4pm, Care UK’s Oxbow Manor, on Oteley Road, is opening its doors to the community for its very first Culinary Showcase.

The event will see Oxbow Manor’s Head Chef, Toby Leech, provide an overview of what it means to have a ‘zero-waste’ culture when it comes to cooking, and the home’s plans to implement and achieve this on a bigger scale.

Toby will share advice on best practice in the kitchen and how to approach mealtimes with zero waste in mind – from making the most of vegetable peels in soups to using candied orange peels as garnish for desserts.

The wider catering team at Oxbow Manor will also be on hand to provide live cooking demonstrations. There’ll also be a tasting menu for everyone to try – including homemade bread and chocolate beetroot cake.

 The wider team will also be on hand to showcase meals offered at Oxbow Manor following this ethos and can provide advice and tips on how to minimise waste for those in the local community.
