A Hailsham care home has officially opened its brand-new conservatory with the help of a special guest.
The Mayor of Hailsham, Councillor Paul Holbrook, visited Care UK’s Bowes House, on Battle Road, to officially cut the ribbon to open the home’s new conservatory and join residents and team members for a special celebration.
The new conservatory will provide a relaxing area for residents and their families to enjoy natural light and enjoy watching local wildlife in the home’s garden, while staying in the warmth of the home.
Large double doors will enable the team to bring the outdoors inside during the summer months. The area will also be used for activities, including birdwatching, crafts and book club.
Events will be held in the conservatory too, including dementia awareness sessions, which offer support and practical advice on what dementia is and how memories are lost, as well as useful tips on how to overcome communication barriers and discover positive approaches to living with dementia.
The team have installed a TV for residents to enjoy cinema afternoons as well as games and puzzles in the conservatory.
Karen Milligan, Customer Relations Manager at Bowes House, said: “Our conservatory launch was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate alongside friends, family and our special guest Councillor Paul Holbrook. The official opening of our conservatory is an important milestone for all of us,
