Residents at a care home in Sutton Coldfield spent the afternoon in the company of several furry friends.
Residents at Care UK’s Mercia Grange, on Lichfield Road, welcomed a pair of loveable alpacas, Roo and Jack, from Wildwood Alpacas.
The residents were able to interact with their new furry friends, as well as learn about their characteristics and how to care for the gentle creatures.
Commenting on the experience, Olwen, a resident at Mercia Grange said: “I was amazed at how soft Roo and Jack were to touch, and how friendly they both were!”
Rachel Mackay, Customer Relations Manager at Mercia Grange, added: “We’re always looking for new, fun activities to put a smile on the residents’ faces.
“Animal therapy is incredibly beneficial for many people, creating a calming environment and prompting conversation. For many residents who have owned pets themselves, having animals visit is a great way to encourage reminiscence and share treasured memories from younger years.
“We’d like to say a big thank you to Wildwood Alpacas for visiting us. Both the residents and team members certainly had a lovely time meeting Roo and Jack!”
