Sleighing all the way! Real-life reindeers visit local care home to make Christmas celebrations extra special

A care home in Worcester celebrated the festive season in style with the help of some special guests.

Residents at Care UK’s Perry Manor, on Charles Hastings Way, were thrilled when Rudolph and his friends trotted into the care home for some exciting Christmas celebrations.

Decking the halls with all things Christmas, the care home team welcomed the reindeers and local community for the afternoon of festive fun, complete with seasonal delights including mulled wine and mince pies for all to enjoy.

On the day, Father Christmas also slid down the chimney for a special appearance, and visitors had the opportunity to join in with carol singing from the home’s very own ‘Perry Merry Carolers’. 

Katherine Matthews, Home Manager at Perry Manor, said: “We’re all looking forward to celebrating Christmas here at Perry Manor, and what better way to set the mood than being joined by the local community and Father Christmas for a festive day all around.

“The special visit from the reindeer was the icing on the Christmas cake and enjoyed by everyone. For older people in particular, animal visits have been shown to have therapeutic benefits, as they can help lower anxiety, create relaxing endorphins, and encourage conversations. The residents' reactions really demonstrated how much they enjoyed interacting with the wonderful creatures.
