A local care home is inviting nearby people into the home for a tasty meal to make things a little easier this winter.
The team at Bickerton House, on Warfield Road, will be hosting a community roast dinner event on one Sunday every month, with the next session on 11th December, for those who may be lonely this winter.
Those who attend will enjoy a hot meal cooked by the home’s head chef which will include all of the trimmings, including a meat or vegetarian option, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and seasonal vegetables. Visitors to the event will also have the opportunity to enjoy the company of residents and have activities provided by the lifestyle team.
Erika Smith, Home Manager at Bickerton House, said: “Our ‘let us host your roast’ events provide us with an excellent opportunity to do something meaningful for members of the community who are struggling or facing loneliness.
“Here at Bickerton House we felt it was incredibly important to host these roasts for Bracknell residents as we understand this time of year can be particularly hard on those living alone.
“If you are living on your own and are struggling with loneliness we would highly recommend phoning or emailing the home and registering for our free events. We are looking forward to welcoming the community into the home every month.”
Bickerton House has been designed to encourage residents to live active and fulfilling lives, while remaining as independent as possible in a safe environment. The state-of-the-art care home provides full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care and features a bar and café, cinema, hair salon, activities room and garden.
