All that jazz! Edinburgh community invited to celebrate special milestone

A care home in Edinburgh is inviting the local community to toast a special milestone.

On Monday 5^th December, from 1.30pm-4pm, the team at Care UK’s Lauder Lodge, on Wakefield Avenue, will be hosting a special party with live jazz to mark five years since the home’s opening.

On the day, there will be a piper on hand to welcome guests with traditional Scottish music. Visitors will also be treated to afternoon tea with a host of cakes, baked by multi-award-winning Head Chef Graham Watson. Guests will also be able to dance to jazz hits performed by none other than swing king Francis Kelly. 

Those visiting will also have an opportunity to take a tour around Lauder Lodge and see exactly what life is like at the home.

Anees Riaz, Home Manager at Lauder Lodge, said: “We’re thrilled to be inviting the community to join us and celebrate this special milestone – reaching our home’s fifth birthday.

“It’s been a great five years overall, and despite the challenges we’ve created some very special memories together with the residents here at Lauder Lodge. We’ve welcomed some real characters to the home, built long-lasting relationships with our neighbours and hosted countless themed days – including the memorable golf putting green opening inaugurated by golf professional, Marc Owenson. This time, we’re excited to bring back our best dance moves and swing along to the king of jazz with the Edinburgh community. 

“We’re looking forward to seeing everyone come together, enjoy the live music and for residents to share their favourite memories of life at Lauder Lodge – it is set to be a fantastic day.” 

Lauder Lodge is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care.
