A care home in Ipswich is celebrating after being shortlisted in the National Association of Care Catering (NACC) awards 2022.
Caroline Llyod, Head Chef at Care UK’s Prince George House, on Mansbrook Boulevard, has been nominated for the ‘Our Care Catering Hero’ award – a title which rewards those who have gone above and beyond in their role.
The NACC is committed to raising the standards of care catering and holds annual awards to celebrate outstanding work and dedication within the sector.
Having worked at the home for over six years, Caroline is highly experienced in preparing delicious and nutritious meals for residents, ensuring ingredients are fresh and local. Judges praised her ‘hotel service’ ethos, which enables the catering team to be creative with their cooking and tailor menus to the preferences of individual residents.
Demonstrating care and commitment to the residents of Prince George House, Caroline gave up time with her own family at Christmas to make sure everyone at the home was well fed with delicious festive treats.
Showing further dedication to her role, Caroline works closely with the care and nursing teams to ensure the needs of all individuals are being met. For many residents living with dementia, weight management and appetite can be harder to manage, so meal plans are adapted accordingly, ensuring everyone is healthy and satisfied.
Jennie Rodger, Home Manager at Prince George House, said: “We’re thrilled Caroline is getting the recognition she deserves – everyone here at Prince George House agrees she is an outstanding member of the team.
“Caroline goes above and beyond daily, having regular conversations with residents to find out their likes and dislikes and to make sure they’re enjoying their meals.
“On behalf of everyone, I’d like to say a big thank you to Caroline for all her hard work, and wish her the best of luck at the awards!”
