A Halstead care home has been welcoming some unusual farm friends to meet residents.
Residents at Colne View, on Dame Mary Walk, were thrilled when six pygmy goats trotted into the care home where they received plenty of fuss and attention.
As part of the animal therapy sessions, residents learnt about the history and characteristics of the goats, from Blackwater Alpacas and Pygmy Goats, as well as other interesting facts about the friendly animals.
Monica Boldeata, Home Manager at Colne View, said: “We had a wonderful afternoon meeting our new four-legged friends.
“Here at Colne View, we are always looking for new and exciting activities for residents to enjoy. Animal therapy has proven to be incredibly beneficial for older people, as it can offer a calming effect, prompt conversations, and most importantly, put a smile on everyone’s faces!
“Pygmy goats are incredibly friendly and make great companions, which makes them perfect for care home visits. It was so lovely to welcome the four-legged friends into the home, and we look forward to seeing them again very soon!”
