Residents at a Cheadle care home have not let the new restrictions stop them from keeping in touch with friends this Christmas.
Residents at Care UK’s Abney Court, on Abney Hall Park, exchanged cards with Greenbank Preparatory School to celebrate the festive season.
All cards were handmade by pupils and residents, and featured collages and drawings of Father Christmas, reindeer, snowmen and Christmas trees, as well as messages and festive greetings.
The home is now hoping to build on this relationship with the pupils at the local school and work together on more initiatives in the new year.
Andrew McIntyre, Home Manager at Abney Court, said: “We’re feeling really festive here at Abney Court, and residents loved exchanging Christmas cards with the pupils at Greenbank Preparatory School.
“Intergenerational relationships have proven to be enriching for both young and older people, as they provide an opportunity for the different generations to learn from each other. There is no doubt that this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship between our home and the pupils at with Greenbank Preparatory School, and we are already looking forward to our next activity together!”
Abney Court has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own cinema, hair salon and café.
