Care home invites Whitstable residents to learn more about mental wellbeing

A care home in Whitstable is inviting the local community to a free, virtual event to learn about improving wellbeing through nutrition and physical activity.

On Monday 28th June, from 2.30pm-4.30pm, Care UK’s Harrier Lodge, on Thanet Way, will be hosting a virtual Emotional Wellbeing event.  Care home invites Whitstable residents to learn more about mental wellbeing

Leading the session will be Laura Burke, from Mind, a leading mental health charity, who will cover a range of topics, including anxiety, depression and different ways to improve wellbeing at home. Laura will also share advice on nutrition, and the importance of maintaining physical activity and socialising for better mental health.

Diane Collins, Home Manager at Harrier Lodge, said: “The pandemic has caused exceptionally challenging and worrying times for each and every one of us. Not being able to see our loved ones, the effects of social isolation, particularly on older people and those shielding, and the financial difficulties the lockdowns have caused, are continuing to take a huge toll on our mental health and wellbeing. Now more than ever, it’s important that we talk about our emotional wellbeing and take proactive steps to improve our mental health.

“The event will explore different strategies to improve wellbeing when you may be feeling particularly down. We want local people to know they’re not alone, and we’re here to offer support. As restrictions continue to change very quickly, this event will provide those that join with long-term strategies and advice. We hope local people will join us for what promises to be an incredibly insightful event.”

For anyone unsure about how to take part in the virtual event, help is at hand. The team at Harrier Lodge will host the event using Zoom, which is very easy to use. Simply call or email Amelia Moore, and she will send a link to join the event and share her tips to make the most out of attending the session.
