Team members and residents at a Copthorne care home have been celebrating after they became one of the first homes in the area to receive Covid-19 vaccinations for almost everyone living and working in the home.
With the support of Copthorne Surgery, the vast majority of residents and team members at Care UK’s Francis Court, on Borers Arms Road, were given the first dose of the vaccination.
One of the first in the queue for the vaccination was 86-year-old Terry Cooper who said: I’m really pleased my wife and I have had the vaccine.”
Anna Allen, Home Manager at Francis Court, said: “We’re thrilled that residents and team members at Francis Court have had the first dose of the vaccination. Everyone is excited to have taken this first step towards returning to normal.
“I would like to offer my thanks to the NHS team at Copthorne Surgery, as they were efficient and friendly – we can’t wait to have our second dose as soon as we are able.”
Care UK is keen to stress that the vaccine doesn’t provide full protection against the virus so its teams will continue to follow their stringent infection control measures including regular deep cleaning, regular testing, the use of masks and other PPE, social distancing, air purifiers and temperature checks to keep everyone safe.
Francis Court has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care.
