Team members and residents at an Enfield care home have been celebrating after they became one of the first homes in the area to receive Covid-19 vaccinations for almost everyone living and working in the home.
With the support of the Care Home Assessment Team, the vast majority of residents and team members at Care UK’s Elizabeth Lodge, on Pennington Drive, were given the first dose of the vaccination.
One of the first in the queue for the vaccination 84-year-old Mary Frances Scaffardi, who said: “The doctor and nurse were lovely and it was very quick. My family are very glad I have had the vaccine and we all look forward to being together again soon.”
Michelle Sampang, Home Manager at Elizabeth Lodge, said: “We were so pleased that residents in our home have had the vaccination. I would like to offer my thanks to the Care Home Assessment Team. They were incredibly efficient, friendly, and made sure everything went smoothly, which was much appreciated.
“This is the first step towards getting back to normal, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off the year. We’re looking forward to receiving our second dose of the vaccine as soon as we’re able.”
Care UK is keen to stress that the vaccine doesn’t provide full protection against the virus so its teams will continue to follow their stringent infection control measures including regular deep cleaning, regular testing, the use of masks and other PPE, social distancing, air purifiers and temperature checks to keep everyone safe.
Elizabeth Lodge has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care.
