Hythe care home celebrates first anniversary in style

Residents and team members at a Hythe care home put on their dancing shoes to mark the home’s first birthday.

To toast the special milestone, the Care UK team at Carpathia Grange, on Southampton Road, organised an extra-special birthday bash.

On the day, residents and team members enjoyed a sing-along and danced to iconic songs, including ‘We’ll meet again’ by Vera Lynn and ‘Rock Around the Clock’ by Bill Haley and the Comets, two favourites with residents. Everyone was also treated to a homemade cake specially prepared by Carpathia Grange’s head chef, Gary Hickman, and a glass of bubbly to mark the occasion.

Angela Forward, a resident at Carpathia Grange, commented: “The first birthday celebrations were lovely, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I have loved living at Carpathia Grange for the past year, I have made many friends and created lots of happy memories.”

Pooja Dhoot, Home Manager at Carpathia Grange, said: “The whole team worked hard to organise a special event, and I am delighted to say that their efforts were rewarded – our first birthday party will definitely be one to remember for years to come. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who celebrated our first birthday with us, and for helping to make the day extra special despite the current circumstances.   

“It’s been an unprecedented but rewarding twelve months. We’ve welcomed lots of new residents to the home, built relationships with brilliant local organisations, and worked hard to create a homely environment for everyone who spends time with us here at Carpathia Grange. While this year has not been without its challenges, we have adapted to the changing world around us to ensure every one of the residents continues to live a happy, fulfilling life in a safe environment. We’re excited to see what’s in store for the next year and beyond.”

The three-storey care home, which provides residential, dementia and nursing care, features 62 ensuite bedrooms, and has been designed to enable its residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own cinema, hair salon and café.
