Residents and team members at a Ware care home took part in celebrations to mark the home’s third birthday.
The Care UK team at Snowdrop House, on Baldock Street, hosted a 1950s themed party for residents to toast the special milestone.
On the day, residents and team members decorated the home with banners and balloons, before enjoying a delicious barbecue specially prepared by the home’s head chef, René. Music from the era got everyone’s feet tapping, and a special birthday cake had been baked for residents to enjoy.
Shirley, who was one of the first residents to move into Snowdrop House when it opened, was crowned the Queen of Snowdrop House as part of the themed celebrations, reflecting Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953.
Shirley said: “We had a wonderful day celebrating Snowdrop House’s third birthday. It was great to see everyone having fun and enjoying themselves, and I thoroughly enjoyed being crowned the Queen of Snowdrop House.
“Before becoming a care home, the site where Snowdrop House was built was formerly a hotel that I used to visit often, and when I first moved into Snowdrop House, it felt like I was returning to a familiar place. I can’t believe I have spent three happy years living here already, we really are one big family.”
Clare Crow, home manager at Snowdrop House, said: “Snowdrop House has had many memorable moments over the past three years, and it’s lovely to celebrate the successes and good times with residents.
“After a challenging few months, it was wonderful to celebrate something positive and enjoy an afternoon filled with fun. Whether it was getting glammed up before the party, enjoying the barbecue or dancing along to our favourite songs from the 50s, everyone certainly celebrated in style!”
Snowdrop House delivers a full range of residential and nursing care for older people, including short-term respite care, and specialist care for people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
