Quorn care home supports local groups with £1,000 donation

A new care home in Quorn has offered its support to local community groups.

Care UK’s Lonsdale Mews, on Farley Way, presented both the Quorn Local History Group and Quorn Social Friendship Over 60s Group (QUOF) with £500 donations.

Quorn care home supports local groups with £1,000 donationThe funds will support both groups throughout the current lockdown and allow them to continue offering activities and outings to the local community once restrictions are lifted.

Speaking about the donations, Lonsdale Mews Home Manager, Toby Sturgess, said: “We are thrilled to be supporting Quorn Local History Group and QUOF. Both organisations are essential to the Quorn community; ensuring the preservation of the town’s heritage, and helping to fight isolation in local older people.

“In these challenging times, it’s more important than ever to extend a helping hand to local groups to ensure they come out of lockdown and can continue to play their part within the community. We’re looking forward to developing our relationship with Quorn Local History Group and QUOF and hope to work together on future projects with residents very soon.”

Sue Templeman, Vice-Chair for Quorn Local History Group, said: “We are delighted to receive this kind donation, which will go a long way given the current circumstances. On behalf of everyone at the Quorn Local History Group, I would like to thank the team at the home, and Care UK, for their generosity – we’re looking forward to discussing ways we can bring Quorn's local history to the residents in the near future.”

Lonsdale Mews provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care. The home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, and includes its own cinema, hairdressing salon and café.
