A new care home in Quorn has announced the appointment of its home manager.
Care UK has appointed Toby Sturgess as home manager at Lonsdale Mews, on Farley Way, to lead the team at the new care home when it opens in October 2020.
Describing himself as caring and passionate, Toby started his career as a care assistant in a home providing dementia care, working his way up to home manager before he even turned 30. He then moved on to manage another care home, which saw its CQC rating improve from ‘requires improvement’ to ‘good’ in just four months. He joined Care UK this year, with a focus on building a positive culture for both residents and colleagues at Lonsdale Mews.
Toby’s new position will see him take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the new care home, which will accommodate up to 64 residents.
Commenting on his new position, Toby said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as the home manager here in Quorn. Being able to create a positive, caring culture from scratch at a brand-new care home is an incredibly exciting opportunity, and I look forward to leading a highly skilled and supportive team.
“Coming into a home every morning and seeing it come to life is one of my favourite aspects of the job, so I can’t wait to welcome the first residents when we open the doors later this year.”
Dianna Coy, regional director at Care UK, said: “The arrival of this new home to Quorn represents an important investment for Care UK, and we’re thrilled to have Toby on board. Every detail has been considered to provide the highest standards of care, but having the right people working in the home is key to the overall experience of residents.
“Toby is no doubt a rising star in the care industry, and has an impressive track record in his career to date. I know he will play an important part in driving standards to ensure Lonsdale Mews builds a reputation for quality, person-centred care.”
Lonsdale Mews incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, and includes its own cinema, hairdressing salon and café. The layout of the building is configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
