A care home in Stratford-upon-Avon was delighted to help a local charity supporting the NHS through the coronavirus pandemic.
Residents and team members at Care UK’s Ambleside, on Evesham Road, were thrilled to present the Warwickshire and Solihull Blood Bikes with a donation of £1,000, which will support the running costs of charity’s transport.
The charity, which helps to transport blood in emergencies through its volunteer motor bikers, has been working around the clock to support the NHS throughout the pandemic. Extending its services to transport medical supplies, test results and even breast milk, the Warwickshire and Solihull Blood Bikes has been an invaluable support for local people.
Unable to fundraise as it would under normal circumstances, the organisation has relied on the kindness and generosity of local people and organisations to help cover the running costs of its work.
Chris Bourne, chairman of the Warwickshire and Solihull Blood Bikes, said: “We are grateful for Ambleside’s donation, which will contribute towards the running costs of our transport.
“The pandemic has placed a huge demand on our NHS, and as ever, we’re keen to offer our support in any way we can. Due to government guidelines, we’ve had to put our usual fundraising activities on hold, making donations like this more important than ever.”
Julia Joy, home manager at Ambleside, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Warwickshire and Solihull Blood Bikes, which provides a vital service to the NHS and those in our community.
“Here at Ambleside, we’re keen to play an active role in our community, and show the same kindness and generosity that has been shown to us by others throughout the pandemic. The Warwickshire and Solihull Blood Bikes do an incredible job, and we are proud to be able to help them to continue the work they do.”
