Cheadle care home thanks local community for their support

Cheadle care home thanks local community for their supportA care home in Cheadle has thanked those who have gone the extra mile to support residents throughout the coronavirus pandemic, from the members of the community to its dedicated team members.

Care UK’s Abney Court, in Abney Hall Park, has expressed its gratitude for the consideration and generosity shown by the people of Cheadle over the past couple of months.

From offering support to delivering messages and artwork to brighten everyone’s day, individuals and organisations have pulled together to support the older members of the community, and Care UK homes across the country have been overwhelmed by the kind gestures of local people.

Abney Court was inundated with support, donations and wonderful gestures, receiving fresh fruit, cakes, and a steady stream of chocolates and sweet treats from families and members of the community, as well as Easter hampers from students at St Thomas More RC College. Thoughtful cards and drawings arrived from pupils from Cheadle Primary School, Madeleine, a pupil at Laurus Academy, and her sister Harriet.  Residents were also treated to a special singing performance in the garden, from Katie Tyson to mark VE Day, along with a commemorative afternoon tea served with glass or two of Pimms.

Whether it’s baking for a resident’s birthday, keeping the morale up through creative activities, team members at Abney Court have also been praised for their unwavering dedication and relentless efforts over the past few months.

Helen Parry, home manager at Abney Court, said: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us over the past couple of months, whether that be through offering support, sending tokens of appreciation, or making our VE Day celebrations even more special.

“Every single thought, message and gesture has helped to raise the spirits of our fantastic team and has brightened the days of residents missing their families. It really has kept everyone going.

“On behalf of everyone at Abney Court, thank you so much.”
