Banbury care home raises impressive funds for local hospice

A local care home has raised over £1,000 for the Katherine House Hospice.

Care UK’s Highmarket House, on North Bar Place, donated £1,200 to the community cause, after hosting a quiz and raffle night earlier this year. The home took part in the hospice’s Karcher Accumalator Challenge, which gave local businesses, schools and community groups £50 with the aim of making a profit for the charity.

Katherine House Hospice provides specialist care for adults with life limiting conditions across three counties. As well as providing medical care, the hospice also provides emotional and spiritual support for those in need, as well as their families.

Jo Pohl, home manager at Highmarket House, said: “We are proud to have raised funds for such a good cause. We would like to thank everyone who came to our quiz night, as well as the residents and team members who spent time making up the questions and those who donated to the raffle.

“We weren’t expecting to raise £1,200 and are thrilled to be able to help support people in our local community we are looking forward to getting involved again next year.”

Highmarket House is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, dementia, nursing and short-term respite care. The home, which features 73 en-suite bedrooms, has been designed to enable its residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own cinema, hairdressing salon and café.
