Edinburgh care home supports local homeless charity with £2,000

Edinburgh care home supports local homeless charity with £2,000A care home in Edinburgh offered its support to a local charity to help tackle homelessness.

The Care UK team at Cairdean House, on Redford Road, presented representatives from the Bethany Christian Trust, which aims to end homelessness across Scotland, with a £2,155 donation following a successful fundraising campaign over Christmas.

The team at Cairdean House initially raised £1,155 through a variety of fundraising initiatives, including a tombola, a bake sale and raffles, before the funds were matched by Care UK, adding £1,000 to the grand total. The four-figure sum will help to fund 102 beds for homeless people in Edinburgh, smashing the original 25 beds target (equating to £525).

Speaking about the donation, Cairdean House home manager, Gillian Goodall, said: “We are thrilled to be supporting the Bethany Christian Trust. The support the organisation provides across Edinburgh is absolutely vital, so we wanted to help in any way we could.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the team – we completely smashed our initial target thanks to their dedication and hard work, and it’s great to be able to make a difference in the community. We look forward to welcoming the Bethany Christian Trust team into the home again soon and continue working with them in the future.”

Hannah Craib, events co-coordinator for the Bethany Christian Trust, said, “We were delighted to receive this kind donation, which will make a vital difference in the lives of homeless people in and around Edinburgh.  On behalf of everyone at the Bethany Christian Trust, I would like to thank the team at the home, and Care UK for their generosity.”
