East Grinstead care home hosts Parkinson’s support event

East Grinstead care home hosts Parkinson’s support eventA local care home is opening its doors to the public for a free Parkinson’s awareness event.

On Thursday 27th February, from 2.30pm-4.30pm, the people of East Grinstead will have the opportunity to find out more about Parkinson’s, and the support available for families affected by the condition at Care UK’s Mill View, on Sunnyside Close.

The team are joining forces with Patrick Braddy from Parkinson’s UK to offer helpful guidance and practical tips for improving the everyday lives of those affected by Parkinson’s, alongside useful information about local support groups and specialist services in East Grinstead and the surrounding areas.

There will be a question and answer session to give everyone the opportunity to raise individual concerns and share experiences, and attendees will also be able to meet the friendly team at Mill View and take a closer look at the care home.

Debbie Wheeler, home manager at Mill View, said: “According to Parkinson’s UK, two people in the UK are diagnosed with Parkinson's every hour. Most people diagnosed are over the age of 50, and one in every 500 will develop the condition in later life.

“Across Care UK, we care for a number of residents living with Parkinson’s, and we have seen first-hand how the experiences of individuals and their families can be transformed by having access to the right information and support.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the community to Mill View to benefit from the specialist knowledge and expert advice on offer.”

Mill View has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as short-term respite. The home features state of the art facilities including a cinema, café and activity space.
