A care home in Banbury is inviting the local community to a free informative event on eye health.
The Care UK team at Highmarket House, on North Bar Place, will open the home’s doors to the local community for its free event offering advice and guidance to people in the local area.
The event on macular degeneration, a common condition impacting vision, will take place on Thursday 13th February from 2pm-4pm. The event will be led by Tom McInulty, from the Macular Society, which helps people adapt to life with sight loss and regain their confidence and independence.
The talk will provide information on the condition itself, while also giving advice on how to keep the eyes healthy and ways to remain independent for longer.
Jo Pohl, home manager at Highmarket House, said: “At Highmarket House, we are passionate that professional knowledge and insight can go a long way in making a difference to the everyday life of those living with macular degeneration, as well as those that care for them.
“We know that macular disease is the nation’s biggest cause of sight loss, affecting nearly 1.5 million people across the UK*, and providing free events like this allows us to offer advice and guidance to the people of Banbury, while also allowing visitors to meet the team at Highmarket House and tour the home.”
Highmarket House is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, dementia, nursing and short-term respite care. The home, which features 73 en-suite bedrooms, has been designed to enable its residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence.
