Team behind multi-million pound Quorn care home celebrates ‘topping out’

Team behind multi-million pound Quorn care home celebrates ‘topping out’A £7 million Quorn care home has marked its latest construction milestone with the help of a special guest.

The deputy mayor of Charnwood, Councillor David Snartt, joined the Care UK team, as well as representatives from their construction partner, Clegg Construction, for a ‘topping out’ ceremony at the new care home, on Farley Way.

The purpose-built care home – which is expected to welcome the first residents in summer 2020 – will provide quality and expert care, while encouraging residents to live independent and fulfilling lives, including facilities such as a cinema, café and hairdressing salon. Secure and wheelchair-friendly landscaped outdoor space will include sensory gardens and seating to give residents the opportunity to spend quality time outdoors.

Claire Ellam, head of care home development for Care UK, said: “As the latest addition to a growing portfolio of residential care homes, the Quorn site represents a major investment for Care UK, and reflects our commitment to improving the provision of residential care in the town.

“I am delighted to have been a part of this milestone as we step ever-closer to opening the doors to the people of Quorn. We are honoured that the deputy mayor has able to celebrate the occasion with us and we look forward to welcoming him back to the care home once it’s complete.”

The deputy mayor, Councillor David Snartt, said: “It was a privilege to place the last timber to the roof structure of the care home in the topping out ceremony, marking a milestone in the construction of a fantastic facility which has been built with residents and families in mind. Quorn will benefit greatly from this state-of-the-art building that will be a welcome addition for the community, and I’m excited to continue to follow the progress of the care home”.

Dave Swift, senior contractor manager at Clegg Construction said: “We are proud to be playing a part in the progress of the much-needed, high-quality new care home for the local area. The building work is progressing fantastically, and we are still on schedule to be open in summer 2020.”

The care home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities, and includes its own cinema, hairdressing salon and café. The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close knit communities.
