How to prevent slips and trips - Crowborough care home hosts free advice event

A care home in Crowborough is inviting local people to a free event where they can learn more about preventing falls among older people.

On Thursday 14th November, from 2pm-4pm, Care UK’s Heather View, on Beacon Road, is welcoming an expert to give advice to the local community at its fall prevention and awareness event.

Cath McCarthy, from Wadhurst and Crowborough Physio Clinic, will be on hand to provide expert guidance on preventing falls, reducing balance problems and maintaining independence. During the event there will be a chance to learn the common causes of slips and falls and discover ways of preventing them at home or in care. Cath will also offer helpful advice and tips on activities and exercises that improve balance and reduce the risk of falls.

This event provides members of the local community with the opportunity to meet the friendly team at Heather View and take a closer look at the care home.

Natasha King, home manager at Heather View, said: “Here at Heather View, we strive to provide in-depth advice to people in the local community on topics relating to our work. To prevent health issues that occasionally occur from accidental falls, it is very important to the team and to the wellbeing of the residents that we provide essential information on falls prevention.

“It is imperative that we create a safe environment for older people in the community, and ensure that family and friends have the correct information to prevent accidents. This event has proved popular in the past, so we are looking forward to welcoming local people to Heather View for what promises to be another interesting and inspiring afternoon of advice and guidance.”

Heather View has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite and palliative care.
