Bristol Bears help open city’s newest care home

Home news

Bristol Bears help open city’s newest care homeBristol’s newest care home has been officially opened by the Bristol Bears’ mascot, Brizzley Bear.

Residents, team members, and the local community joined the well-known mascot at the grand launch of Trymview Hall, on Southmead Road, at a party that was also attended by children from Manor House Nursery.

It was an afternoon of celebration, complete with entertainment from the Cover Girlz, who sang a variety of vintage hits. The opening ceremony included the announcement of local hero winners, a competition which ran in the lead up to the home opening to reward local people who go above and beyond for their community.

Deserving winner, Rose Pope, from Bristol, was crowned the local hero and presented with a prize by Care UK regional director Omar Taylor. Rose was nominated for her work as a carer and for ensuring the people she looks after have active lives, this includes organising an annual group trip to Minehead for the past 21 years.

Second and third place runners up, Suzanne Daggar and Mike Murch, were also honoured in the ceremony for their hard work in the local community.

The celebration saw Brizzley Bear, alongside one of the first residents, Tom Fitzpatrick, and local hero winner, Rose Pope, cut the ribbon to officially open the care home.

Fun and games followed the official proceedings, with cupcake decorating gaining much attention from visitors, while residents and guests enjoyed a keep fit activity session led by the Bristol Bear Community Foundation. There was also the opportunity to have a go on the home’s interactive table, which featured games, including chess, as well as the opportunity to have a caricature drawn by The Arty One.

Pamela Arnsmeyer, home manager at Trymview Hall, said: “Our grand launch party was a wonderful success and the perfect way to mark such an important moment for Trymview Hall. The local schools, businesses and neighbours have been so warm and welcoming; we feel like we are already part of the community.

“We were delighted to have such honourable guests among us, and it was fantastic to see residents, team members, friends, family and locals all joining in the fun. It was truly a day to remember.”

The new care home provides full-time residential and dementia care, with 66 ensuite bedrooms, and has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The care home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities and will include its own cinema, hairdressing salon and café.
