Residents at a care home in Windsor are gearing up to take part in some avian-themed activities this January.
Inspired by the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, which takes place from Saturday 25th January to Monday 27th January, residents will be taking part in a variety of activities related to our feathered friends, as well as topping up their bird feeders and counting the birds in their garden.
Alongside Care UK homes across the country, Mountbatten Grange, on Helston Lane, will be celebrating the best of British birds by visiting the nearby Windsor Great Park to spot some native species, including buzzards, swans, and sparrow hawks.
The home will also welcome a host of birds of prey to the home, including owls, with residents invited to find out more about the friendly creatures during a special ‘show and tell’ workshop.
Debbie Winwood, home manager at Mountbatten Grange, explained why exploring our wildlife is an important activity: “We’re always inspired by RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch, and this year we’ve decided to go one step further and celebrate British birds by birdwatching in our local park and opening our doors to an array of birds of prey.
“We’re excited to be taking part in a whole host of nature-based activities, so it will be a great opportunity for everyone to have lots of fun while learning more about our local wildlife.
“We look forward to welcoming owls to the home to get our celebration off to a flying start!”
