Bird is the word! Ware care home residents spread their wings to celebrate the best of British birds

Bird is the word! Ware care home residents spread their wings to celebrate the best of British birdsResidents at a care home in Ware are gearing up to take part in some avian-themed activities this January.

Inspired by the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, which takes place from Saturday 25th January to Monday 27th January, residents will be taking part in a variety of activities related to our feathered friends, as well as topping up their bird feeders and counting the birds in their garden.

Alongside Care UK homes across the country, Snowdrop House will be celebrating the best of British birds by building birdhouses, as well as inviting Coda Falconry along to visit.

Residents will learn all about birds of prey, and will also have the opportunity to get up close to some of the magnificent creatures.

Maxine McManus, deputy home manager at Snowdrop House, said: “Everyone is really looking forward to celebrating British birds this January and learning more about our feathered friends. We’ve been researching British birds common to Ware and are looking forward to meeting some birds of prey.

“Residents here at Snowdrop House have a keen interest in nature, so we thought that researching local birds, as well as getting up close to some birds of prey would be the perfect way to discover local wildlife. We’d like to thank RSPB for inspiring us to get involved - we can’t wait to get started!”
