Bird is the word! Ipswich care home residents spread their wings to celebrate the best of British birdsResidents at a care home in Ipswich are gearing up to take part in some avian-themed activities this January.

Inspired by the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, which takes place from Saturday 25th January to Monday 27th January, residents will be taking part in a variety of activities related to our feathered friends, as well as topping up their bird feeders and counting the birds in their garden.

Alongside Care UK homes across the country, Prince George House, on Mansbrook Boulevard, will be celebrating the best of British birds by making their own fat balls, building their own bird houses and observing the birds in their garden.

Jennie Rodger, home manager at Prince George House, explained why exploring our wildlife is an important activity: “Residents love taking part in nature-themed activities and learning more about the beautiful environment we live in.

“Birdwatching can be a fantastic experience, particularly for residents living with dementia. The sights, smells and sounds of nature can spark many memories and be a real conversation starter. We can’t wait to try and spot as many local birds as possible - hopefully they’ll all pay us a flying visit!”
