Residents at a care home in Hythe are gearing up to take part in some avian-themed activities this January.
Inspired by the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, which takes place from Saturday 25th to Monday 27th January, residents will be taking part in a variety of activities related to our feathered friends, as well as topping up their bird feeders and counting the species in their garden.
On Friday 24th January, from 11am–12.30pm, Care UK’s Carpathia Grange, on Southampton Road, will be celebrating the best of British birds by hosting a special birds of prey visit from the Creature Teachers. The home has also invited the Little Shipmates Nursery to join them and learn interesting facts about the animals.
Ray Arnold, home manager at Carpathia Grange, explained why discovering our local wildlife is so important: “We all love getting outside, enjoying the fresh air and spending time with nature here at Carpathia Grange, so we’ve invited the Creature Teachers along to bring some animals to the home and help us take part in some nature-based activities, inspired by RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch.
“Birdwatching is an accessible activity that those of all ages and abilities can enjoy together, and a great opportunity for the local community to join us. Intergenerational relationships benefit everyone, allowing us to learn from one another, and have fun along the way.
“We can’t wait to welcome the Little Shipmates Nursery to the home for the birds of prey visit too – it promises to be a real hoot!”
