Residents at a care home in East Grinstead are gearing up to take part in some avian-themed activities this January.
Inspired by the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, which takes place from Saturday 25th January to Monday 27th January, residents will be taking part in a variety of activities related to our feathered friends, as well as topping up their bird feeders and counting the birds in their garden.
Alongside Care UK homes across the country, Mill View, on Sunnyside Close, will be celebrating the best of British birds by testing their knowledge in a special bird-themed quiz and watching a nature documentary. In preparation for the event, residents have also been making bird feeders for the home’s garden.
Debbie Wheeler, home manager at Mill View, explained why exploring our wildlife is an important activity: “Everyone is really looking forward to celebrating British birds this January and learning more about our feathered friends. We’ve been researching British birds common to East Grinstead and are very excited to be testing our knowledge of British birds.
“Residents here at Mill View have a keen interest in nature, so we thought that researching local birds, as well as doing some birdwatching would be the perfect way to discover local wildlife. We’d like to thank RSPB for inspiring us to get involved - we can’t wait to get started!”
