Residents at a care home in Cringleford are gearing up to take part in some avian-themed activities this January.
Inspired by the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, which takes place from Saturday 25th January to Monday 27th January, residents will be taking part in a variety of activities related to our feathered friends, as well as topping up their bird feeders and counting the birds in their garden.
Alongside Care UK homes across the country, residents at Cavell Court, on Dragonfly Lane, will be celebrating the best of British birds by creating some bird-themed works of art, as well as taking part in a birdsong reminiscence session. The home will also be visited by a local owl sanctuary, where residents will have the chance to get up close to some of Britain’s magnificent creatures.
The home has also invited Cringleford Primary School to join them for the occasion to take part in an intergenerational learning activity, where pupils will teach residents about British wildlife.
Karen Curle, home manager at Cavell Court, said: “We’re always inspired by RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch, and this year we’ve decided to go one step further and celebrate British birds by inviting along pupils from Cringleford Primary School to join us for some avian-themed fun.
“We’re excited to be taking part in a whole host of nature-based activities, so it will be a great opportunity for everyone to have lots of fun while learning more about our local wildlife.
“We look forward to welcoming Cringleford Primary School to get our celebration off to a flying start!”
