Bird is the word! Bromsgrove care home residents spread their wings to celebrate the best of British

Residents at a care home in Bromsgrove are gearing up to take part in some avian-themed activities this January.

Inspired by the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, which takes place from Saturday 25^th to Monday 27^th January, residents will be taking part in a variety of activities related to our feathered friends, as well as topping up their bird feeders and counting the species in their garden.

Alongside Care UK homes across the country, Chandler Court, on Recreation Road, will be celebrating the best of British birds by playing intergenerational bird lotto and colouring with the children from Castle Nursery. Residents will enjoy a trip to Upton Warren Nature Reserve in the afternoon to see how many different species they can spot.

Dawn Covill, home manager at Chandler Court, explained why discovering our wildlife is an important activity: “Everyone is really looking forward to celebrating British birds this January and learning more about our feathered friends. We’ve been researching British birds common to Bromsgrove and are very excited to be taking part in a variety of activities throughout January.

“Residents here at Chandler Court have a keen interest in nature, so we thought that researching local wildlife, as well as seeing birds of prey would be the perfect way to discover what’s on our doorstep. We’d like to thank RSPB for inspiring us to get involved - we can’t wait to get started!”
