A resident at a care home in Sevenoaks created some Christmas magic when he stepped into Santa’s shoes for a day.
Brian Williamson, a resident at Care UK’s Weald Heights, on Bourchier Close, surprised children from Kidslingo Spanish Sevenoaks when they visited the home for their weekly Spanish lesson, by dressing up as ‘Papá Noel’.
When asked if he would be happy to step in as Santa for the day, Brian did not hesitate to agree, and his natural laugh was perfect for the role.
With the help of the care team, the home’s library was transformed into a Santa’s grotto, complete with snowy footprints and sparkling lights, before children excitedly hurried along to meet the main man himself.
Maria Covington, home manager at Weald Heights, said: “We loved spreading some Christmas cheer to the children from Kidslingo Spanish Sevenoaks and everyone at Weald Heights.
“It was fantastic to see how happy Brian was when chatting with the children, and seeing how excited they were to meet Santa. Forming intergenerational relationships is important for residents, especially at this time of year, as it helps to bring back fond memories of Christmases past – and this was a wonderful opportunity to do just that!”
The ethos at Weald Heights is based on person-centred care, which means residents’ values are right at the heart of the home. Choice, variety and luxury are built into every aspect of life at Weald Heights, which offers a combination of professional, individualised care and luxury hotel-style comfort.
