A care home in Edinburgh was joined by some unusual friends for a special afternoon of animal fun.
Residents at Cairdean House, on Redford Road, gathered to welcome two friendly alpacas from BobCat Alpacas, which were given a tour of the home, where they received plenty of fuss and attention.
As part of the session, residents learnt about the history and characteristics of alpacas, as well as other interesting facts about the animals.
Home manager at Cairdean House, Gillian Goodall, said: “We are always looking to plan interesting and exciting activities for residents, and as so many have a keen interest in nature and animals, we invited alpacas along to provide a fun afternoon that everyone could enjoy.
"Not many residents had seen an alpaca before, and you could see from their reactions just how fascinated they were by the gentle-natured creatures. It proved to be a real success, and the residents all loved having a cuddle with the alpacas, as well as learning about how their fleece can be used to make all sorts of different clothing. We can’t wait for them to pop in for another visit soon!”
Cairdean House has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as short-term respite.
