Residents at a care home in Cringleford were delighted when they were visited by some very special four-legged friends.
There was excitement all round at Care UK’s Cavell Court, on Dragonfly Lane, when a donkey and a pony trotted in. Residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to stroke and pet the friendly creatures, as well as enjoy an informative talk on their personalities, and how they are cared for.
The festive duo, Buddy and Barney, were also taken on a tour of the care home, visiting residents’ rooms to ensure everyone had the opportunity to meet and interact with them.
Karen Curle, home manager at Cavell Court, said: “We had a fantastic time introducing the animals to residents at Cavell Court. You could see from everyone’s reactions how engaged they were to get by these lovely animals.
“Here at Cavell Court, we know just how beneficial animal therapy can be for older people – especially those living with dementia. Being close to animals can help lift a person’s mood, stimulate social interaction and ease agitation – and Buddy and Barney were brilliant at doing just that!”
Cavell Court has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as short-term respite.
